I began composing in high school when I wrote the theme song for my anti-prejudice performance troupe (UPBEAT – Undermining Prejudice By Education And Teamwork).  The song was entitled “Stop! Think! Change!” and many of my high school friends could probably still sing it for you – which is good because I never made a recording of it.

Recently, I have composed for my dear friends Michelle O’Connor and Akyiaa Wilson for their urbanized Shakespearean Sonnet play, “No Such Roses:  Sonnets That Are Nothing Like The Sun”, as well as in collaboration with Michelle for a Columbia University thesis production of  “The Tempest”.  Listen to some of the songs from that production by selecting from some of the links below. (All songs are in .mp3 format.)

I continue to write songs on my subway rides, on the backs of scrap paper, and in my journal.  There are two musicals in my head, and one day I will put them on paper.  But, until then, I love composing for Mr. Shakespeare – he’s a pretty good lyricist.
